Christian Education at All Saints' Church
Welcome to our Youth Sunday School program!

Currently we are using two sets of Christian education material: "Living the Good News," an arts-enhanced, lectionary-based program, and, “What We Do in Church.” We are also exploring the merits of a recently introduced curriculum based upon the Revised Common Lectionary, “Feasting on the Word,” designed for classroom use in the church among various age levels including children, youth, and adults.

All teachers have used the "online support site" from Morehouse Education Resources as a supplement to the weekly lessons.

Our pre-school program has two teachers and one adult assistant. The teachers alternate weekly.

Our intermediate class, taught by one teacher, incorporates children in grades one through five. This class uses the "What We Do in Church" program, a child's activity book, as a supplement to “Living the Good News”.

Children from grade six and upward make up our third class, also taught by one teacher. From time to time the children prepare lunches for the homeless, treats for our coffee hour, and get well cards for our homebound parishioners. These children also serve as acolytes on a rotating basis.

This year we have provided accommodation in our Friendship Hall, for younger children who might get restless during the service. Together with their parents they can view the service through our video monitors in the hall and then return to the altar to receive communion.

Our Adult Education Program

Adults are invited to join a weekly review of the scriptures from the Revised Common Lectionary. This group meets on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. following the mid-week healing service and Holy Eucharist. We are in session September through mid-June when we take a break for the summer.

On Tuesday evenings in Lent all parishioners are invited to Lenten dinners followed by education programs that close with Compline. Dinner begins at 6:00 p.m. Programs start at 6:45 p.m.

What’s in our future?

Perhaps a Sunday Christian education forum for adults to meet the needs of people who cannot join us on a work day morning.

With the recent celebration of so many Baptisms, our nursery looks to grow rapidly! That, of course, means we are preparing to receive more children into our Christian Education program, which will require a re-design of our class structure. We are excited about that sign of growth!

Whether in the pew or in a class or gathered around our ‘study table’ we invite you to join us in learning about Christian faith and perhaps discovering new ways of putting our faith into action!
